UPDATE: This photo was printed in the WMUR-TV’s U-Local book “4-Seasons – Life in NH”, 2010 addition.
UPDATE: This photo won second place in the Rochester, New Hampshire Fair Photo Contest for Sunrise / Sunset category.
Portsmouth, New Hampshire is a fantastic town with historic buildings, water ways, a rich history and lively entertainment. Recently, we brought our children to Prescott Park to watch a production of Peter Pan.
During intermission, I went out onto the pier to capture a photo of the Memorial Bridge. Everything seemed perfect for the picture. A sailboat was tied to the dock, and the color in the sky was reflected in the calm water. While taking my picture, the bridge started to rise and I was able to get a capture a more interesting photograph.
This picture reminded me that taking my time, being patient and trying different camera settings can be very rewarding.
I used a Nikon D90 with Vivitar 19-35mm lens set at a focal length of 24mm. This was a 6 second exposure with an F stop of 20 and the ISO was set to 500.
