Several years ago, my wife and I decided we wanted to learn more about photography. We took a photography class together to get more familiar with our new (at the time) cameras. We had purchased a Nikon N6006 and after getting tired of sharing the same camera, we purchased a Nikon N50.
Once we had kids, taking film pictures got expensive so we purchased a digital camera. Of course, digital cameras were not like they are now and the quality of the pictures was not good. In time, the Nikon bodies stayed in their case and were no longer used. We only shot snap shot photos with our digital camera.
Last year, we purchased our first DSLR camera. We got a Nikon D90 body and I am currently using our old lenses. As you will see from my photos, the macro lens is one of my favorites, even though every setting is manual. The only piece of equipment that was not compatible with our new camera was our old external flash.
I use to coach my kids sports teams. This year, I traded in my coaching title for a new one: team photographer. This past spring, I loved taking pictures of my youngest son’s t-ball team. After the games, I would email pictures I took of the players to their parents. That led to taking pictures of my older son’s All-Star baseball over the summer. These photos were then posted online at the team’s website.
I enjoy taking pictures of nature, children, kid’s sporting events and pets. In the past, I have had people tease me about lying on the ground to take pictures of mushrooms.
The new digital technology is great to work with, and now, I have been honing my techniques with photo editing software and file management processes.
